Glossary

If you are new to healing, there are lots of terms people regularly use that might seem daunting. 

I've put together a little glossary with brief explanations and definitions for you to read at your own pace.

Reiki

The word Reiki is Japanese for spiritual/ life force energy 
The system of Reiki was originally created by Mikao Usui in Japan in the late 19th Century. The system, which draws on a range of teachings and techniques, some of which are founded in Japanese Buddhism, is designed to help people reconnect to their true/highest self by enabling us to absorb and assimilate universal life force energy. 

A Reiki treatment uses palm healing whereby reiki/ energy is passed to the recipient by the laying of hands on (or slightly above) their body. Reiki treatments can also be given remotely (distance healing). During reiki treatments recipients often feel a deep sense of relaxation and peace and may experience sensations of heat/ coolness/ tingling within their body. This beautiful, safe practice can aid people’s physical and emotional healing.
 

The Emotion Code

This precise, safe system was originally created by Dr Bradley Nelson in the early 1990’s to help his patients who were not healing from traditional chiropractic treatments. The Emotion Code is an energy-based technique which is used to clear negative emotions which are trapped in the body. “Over time these trapped emotions can fester in your life and body, creating pain, malfunction and eventual disease. They can also extract a heavy mental and emotional toll on you, impacting how you think, the choices that you make, and the level of success and abundance you are able to achieve. Perhaps most damaging of all, trapped emotional energies can gather around your heart, cutting off your ability to give and receive love.” Dr Bradley Nelson.
The Emotion code uses a combination of energy healing techniques to safely and effectively pin-point and permanently remove negative trapped emotions. The system does not require any physical contact and can be used on people and animals.

Human Givens

‘Human Givens’ is a practical, holistic and scientific approach focusing on what individuals need to live mentally healthy and fulfilling lives.
It draws on the latest insights from neuroscience and psychological research and combines this knowledge with proven therapeutic techniques from a wide range of approaches to provide highly effective interventions.
Its application is broad – encompassing mental and physical healthcare, wellbeing, education, social work, life coaching, the workplace, conflict-resolution and beyond.

Grounding

Grounding techniques are exercises that may help you refocus on the present moment to distract yourself from anxious feelings. You can use grounding techniques to help create space from distressing feelings in nearly any situation, but they're especially helpful for improving: anxiety. well-being. stress.
